Volkswagen Atlas unveiled

The all-new 3-row, 7-seat Volkswagen Atlas debuts in Santa Monica

On October 27th, 2016, at an exclusive media event, we unveiled the all-new 3-row, 7-seat SUV, Volkswagen Atlas.

The Atlas held court at the base of Route 66, on the Santa Monica Pier where journalists and car enthusiasts got an up close view of the final production model.

It’s been a long time in the making but we’re pleased that the exterior design remains true to the original CrossBlue vision. The Atlas sits low and wide accommodating a larger than life interior that can haul your passengers and your cargo with ease.

In fact, its size has garnered some online commentary from automotive journalists who participated in the event. reports, “expect the Atlas to become a key player in the popular segment”. At the same time, The Globe and Mail, in reference to the vehicle’s available trim levels and multitude of options, claims “The VW Atlas promises to be a versatile and comfortable family hauler.”

Make room for the new 7-seat Volkswagen SUV

Our family is expanding to fit your family

October 27 is almost here! That’s the day we’re revealing our new 7-seat SUV at an exclusive media event in Santa Monica. To get all the details as they happen, be sure to tune into our Facebook page that night between the hours of 6pm and 8pm PST.

In the meantime, we’re bringing you some first-hand accounts of recent test drives by journalists from and The Car Guide. We recently invited them to Chattanooga, Tennessee where the new SUV is currently in production. And while our two pre-production models were heavily disguised inside and out, reviewers still got the chance to experience the ride as a passenger as well take it for a drive.

Both were impressed with the spaciousness of the interior cabin with a 3rd row is designed to comfortably seat two adults. Marc-Andre Gauthier of The Car Guide, was particularly pleased when his six-foot frame discovered that not only do the “third row seats offer plenty of room, but they’re just as comfortable as those in the other row.” Even better, the second row has been designed to incline, even with a child seat in place, to provide wider access to the third row.

Similarly, Derek McNaughton of Driving comments on the enormity of the shoulder room, ample leg room and multiple storage bins, cubbies and cup holders. The second and third-row seats are designed to fold flat and according to McNaughton, “…the space looks big enough to support a queen size mattress, possibly exceeding 80 cubic feet.” What we can tell you is that it’s big. Real big.

The powertrains offered on Canadian models include a turbocharged 2.0L TSI engine with FWD and a 3.6L FSI on the 4MOTION AWD model . Each journalist test drove the SUV and both commented on how quiet the ride was. McNaughton claims, “the ride was seriously quiet, with nary any wind or engine noise. The transmission shifted cleanly and without intrusion.” Similarly, according to Gauthier, “On paved roads, even if my test vehicle was far from finished, the quietness of the cabin was remarkable. The SUV’s suspension is perfectly calibrated to offer an ideal balance of comfort and sportiness.”

In terms of safety,we can say that the new 7-seat SUV includes an impressive list of advanced safety features. The available around-view monitor, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, park assist, lane assist and front assist, are just a few that will appeal to safety conscious SUV buyers.
