Revealed: 2018 Golf Facelift

New front and back ends and standard infotainment features mark biggest changes.

Last fall, we brought you news of the 2018 Golf facelift which was released in Europe last year as the 2017 Series-7 Golf.

While we have yet to reveal the Canadian model, the European version was recently on display at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Zack Spencer, from Driving Television took it for spin to Lavaux Vineyard Terraces, a Unesco Heritage site on the south-facing northern shores of Lake Geneva.

Referring to the Golf as “Audi Light”, Zack goes through some of the existing features that have made the Volkswagen Golf popular with Canadian Drivers alongside new ones like the redesigned front and back ends including new bumpers, air intakes, head lamps and LED taillights.

Watch the video to find out which European model features will be available on the redesigned 2018 Golf, Golf-R and e-Golf.

Newest VW models at 2017 Geneva Autoshow

2018 Tiguan, redesigned Golf and Arteon make a stop in Geneva

The annual Geneva Motor Show has a reputation as one of the most interesting in the world. It is the show where supercars and concept cars share the stage with more commonly sought-after models. For Volkswagen, it’s a chance to preview new models that will be coming to market in the next 6-12 months, some of which will be coming to Canada.

In keeping with tradition, the Volkswagen I.D. Buzz concept was on display alongside the All-New 2018 Tiguan with optional 3rd row seating. Also on display was the 2018 Golf, refreshed and ready for action, as well as the All-New 2018 Arteon.

If you haven’t yet heard about I.D. Buzz, it’s an all-electric self-driving concept that runs on our new MEB platform. The micro-bus style concept draws inspiration from the popular Volkswagen Campervan and has an estimated range of up to 600 kilometres.

While I.D. Buzz may be a few years way, coming soon to Canada is the much-talked about All-New 2018 Tiguan. The newly redesigned SUV is longer and is available with an optional 3rd row seat that provides additional versatility for hauling cargo or passengers.

Also, making an appearance, was the newly refreshed 2018 Golf. Its new look includes a redesigned front and back end, a bigger Infotainment system display, and standard App-Connect. Check out the full MotorMouth video review of the 2018 Golf here.

Perhaps the most talked-about Volkswagen model at the Geneva auto show was the All-New 2018 Arteon. Currently, only to be available in Europe, it’s a 5-passenger, 5-door, high-style lift back GT model sedan. There’s no word yet on whether or not it’s coming to Canada, but if and when it does, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Volkswagen Manager of PR, Thomas Tetzlaff was recently in Geneva to give us a closer look at all four Volkswagen models. Watch now.
