Last week, AJAC, the Automotive Journalists Association of Canada, bestowed top honours on the All-New 2017 Golf Alltrack, naming it Canadian Car of the Year.
The award, which was announced at the Canadian International Autoshow at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, comes on the heels of Alltrack winning AJAC BEST NEW LARGE CAR. President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada Inc., Maria Stenström, was on hand to accept the award.
“It is such a great honour to have AJAC name the new Volkswagen Golf Alltrack as their car of the year. […] Thank you so much to all the members of AJAC for this recognition.”
Alltrack beat out BMW M2 and Hyundai Elantra with a total score of 680 points, receiving top marks for exterior styling, throttle and engine, and transmission performance, in addition to cargo and safety features, to name a few.
The AJAC Awards were created by journalist members of the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) to provide consumers with sound, comparative information on vehicles that are new to the market. Each year, the top automotive journalists from across Canada gather to evaluate new or significantly improved vehicles making their debut on the market. The evaluation is based on real-world back-to-back testing to ensure the most relevant results possible. At the end, the best new vehicles in various categories are selected as well as an overall Canadian Car of the Year and Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year.
Redesigned and redefined. A bold new look takes the stage in Detroit.
The All-New 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan made its North American debut this week at the Detroit Autoshow. If you haven’t yet heard all about it, we’ve got your first look. Our compact SUV is getting a completely new design that will see it upsized in more ways than one.
Versatility for life
One of the most anticipated features of the 2018 Tiguan is the new, longer wheelbase designed to increase both space and comfort, making it a practical choice for busy families and weekend warriors alike. Additionally, those looking for greater versatility will enjoy the optional 3rd row seating, which provides the freedom to make room for passengers or cargo as the need arises.
Style and substance
Features like App-Connect, Fender® Premium Audio and Active Info Display keep you connected and in the know, no matter where you go. And the standard USB port means you don’t need an additional charger for your devices. So you can kick back, enjoy the tunes and soak up a little Vitamin D from the sun streaming through the available panoramic sunroof. Drivers will especially like the 4MOTION® All-Wheel Drive and Advanced Driver Assist package that provides the traction and control required for superior performance and handling.
Safety first. Always.
More than just a pretty face and sweet ride, the All-New 2018 Tiguan includes optional state-of-the-art safety features that push the boundaries of innovation. Area View consists of cameras with wide-angle lenses mounted to the front, rear and exterior side mirrors that work together to simulate a real-time, top-down aerial view of your vehicle, plus a variety of perspectives resulting in greater visibility overall. City dwellers will especially like the Front Assist with City Emergency Brake when they find themselves in stop and go traffic. It monitors cars ahead and senses upcoming emergencies. The system then applies the brakes or increases brake force to avoid a collision. The Tiguan also features optional Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist and Park Distance Control to keep your drive stress-free and ding-free.
If you want to see it for yourself, the All-New 2018 Tiguan will be making its Canadian debut at the Canadian International Autoshow in Toronto happening from February 17-26, 2017. If you want to stay up to date on everything 2018 Tiguan, sign up to receive updates now.
