A whole new premium sedan is coming to Canada.
Say hello to the Volkswagen Arteon.
The much-anticipated Volkswagen Arteon goes on sale this year in Canada (as a 2019 model). Based of f the award-winning MQB platform, the newest Volkswagen flagship offers a sleek fastback design, an upscale interior, innovative technology and 4MOTION All-Wheel Drive. The Arteon presents a more cab-backward design, giving it a completely different look than the outgoing CC. A true fastback, it harkens more to luxury models with its wide, planted stance and sloping rear roofline. The exterior design immediately sets Arteon apart from its competitors.
Tobias Sühlmann, the designer responsible for the model’s exterior (though he’s been snatched up by Volkswagen Group sibling Bugatti to be the new Head of Exterior Design Creative Development) explains: “The athletic lines of the Arteon embody a highly functional overall concept. Form and function find common ground here in a progressive way. Thanks to its long wheelbase, stretched roofline, coupe-style fastback design and large rear hatch, the Arteon provides more space and flexibility than conventional sedans.”
That long wheelbase certainly ensures there’s plenty of interior space, as well as a sizeable trunk accessed by a wide hatch. The interior offers plenty of style and substance, including a digital instrument cluster with touchscreen navigation and an entertainment system that offers all the latest connectivity.
The Arteon will be powered by a 268 hp 2.0-litre TSI engine paired with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission. Options include a Driver Assistance Package with Lane Assist, Park Assist and Area View. Also available is the R-Line appearance package, which includes 20-inch Rosario wheels, as well as premium features such as Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, massaging driver’s seat and Dynaudio premium audio.
