Fastest Growing SUV Brand in Canada in 2017

Volkswagen has a long-standing history of building great small cars that offer exceptional value and quality. North Americans quickly fell in love with the Beetle when it made its way across the pond and that love has only grown to include models like the Jetta and the Golf.

These models have long been the darlings of the Volkswagen lineup thanks to German engineering that has prioritized performance and handling, putting the driver at the centre of the experience.

Over the years, Canadian families have grown and evolved. And it was time that we did too. In 2015, Volkswagen AG committed to expanding its North American lineup to include SUVs and crossovers that better meet the needs of our unique market.

Last year, we launched the next-generation, All-New 2018 Tiguan, equipped with a longer wheelbase that allows for an optional 3rd row of seating and the All-New 7 seat 2018 Atlas, a midsize SUV that feels full-size. And Canadians have been quick to embrace both models. So much so that Volkswagen was the “Fastest Growing SUV Brand in Canada* in 2017.”

We’re working hard to give Canadians more of what they want: capacity, comfort,  all-wheel drive performance, enhanced safety features and the technologies they’ve come to expect. Of course, that’s all within Volkswagen’s trademark quality.

This is just the beginning. Last year, Volkswagen brand chief, Herbert Diess, announced that the company expects SUVs  to account for 40% of sales globally. . While there’s no news yet on when the new model will go into production, or what kind of SUV it will be, it’s pretty safe to say, there’s a lot more to come when it comes to SUVs.

Stay tuned.
