2019 Arteon emerges larger than life

The All-New 2019 Arteon made its long-awaited debut at the Chicago Autoshow today. And we couldn’t be more excited. Since it’s unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show last year, the Arteon has been making waves around the Internet, with many wondering when it would cross the pond into North America. Well, it seems the wait is over for our friends to the south.

Many automotive journalists and media outlets are calling the Arteon a replacement for the recently discontinued Volkswagen CC, but we can tell you that this exciting new fastback sedan is the furthest thing from it.

Built on our MQB platform, which underpins a wide range of Volkswagen vehicles, the 2019 Arteon leverages the best features from our existing models and a few new ones, too.

Curves in all the right places

From the outside, the Arteon looms large with its broad fascia, wide stance and aggressively styled grill. Counterbalancing its bold front are aerodynamic contours, frameless windows and subtle curves that culminate in an eye-catching rear design that’s both dynamic and practical. That’s because instead of a traditional trunk, drivers benefit from the added convenience and space afforded by a fastback – with an easy open and close liftgate, of course.

But despite the Arteon’s fastback looks, it’s all sedan inside. This spacious new model has been designed right down to the very last detail.

Inside, comfort and convenience reign supreme

The 2019 Arteon’s interior is nothing short of luxurious. An available 8” touchscreen puts navigation, music and your favourite apps right at your fingertips, thanks to App-Connect which supports Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™.

Optional 14-way adjustable ergoComfort seats ease even the most uncomfortable commutes thanks to an innovative and quite frankly awesome, massage function. (What took so long?) But the driver isn’t the only one getting the royal treatment. Heated front and rear seats ensure that no one is left out in the cold when temperatures dip below freezing. And when things heat up, the available panoramic sunroof keeps the breeze flowing throughout the Arteon’s cabin.

The digital cockpit keeps the driver informed and comfortably in control with real-time information like trip data, mileage and driver assistance systems – of which there are some innovative features we’ve never seen before on a Volkswagen.

An intelligent driving experience

Many of our models in recent years, feature a number of driver assistance systems that are designed to enhance overall safety. Systems like

Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist, Lane Assist, Multi-collision braking and rearview camera, to name a few.   The All-New 2019 Arteon however, takes driver assistance to a whole new level.

Outperforms in every way

Traditionally, sedans have been popular family cars thanks to a reputation for value brought about by price, space, and safety features. And while Arteon does offer exceptional value, it doesn’t compromise on performance. In fact, it takes a few of its cues from the Golf R, which recently received the AJAC Award for BEST PERFORMANCE SPORTS CAR.

Under the hood, Arteon, like Golf R, is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4- cylinder engine that delivers a respectable 276 horsepower. But for those seeking a little more oomph, the available Arteon R-Line ups the ante with a 3.0L V6 engine with 8-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic® and standard 4MOTION® All Wheel Drive. Drivers can expect to get the same stiff suspension and exceptional handling for which Volkswagen is renowned.

Whether or not, Arteon will be available in Canada is still under wraps, but you might want to check out the Canadian International Auto Show this month. You never know what vehicles just might show up.
