Wheels.ca gives Jetta GLI a rave review
When wheels.ca writer Mike Johnston took the 2017 Jetta GLI for a spin, he wasn’t the only person impressed with it. He received his first “nice car” remark in recent memory.
“It had been a long time since a car I had out for a test drive received a verbal compliment,” he writes.
But the 2017 Jetta GLI doesn’t just look great. Johnston gives bumper-to-bumper raves for the vehicle’s features, citing every detail from the design of the instrument clusters to the interior ambient light.
Up front, the Bi-Xenon headlights have the Adaptive Front-light System, which moves 13 degrees from side to side in tandem with the steering wheel. Particularly handy on a dark highway, Johnston reports.
He’s equally impressed with the Park Distance Control, which helped Johnston avoid an obstacle just six inches tall. Those concrete parking lot barriers are no match for the Jetta GLI.
And how does that powerful 2.0-litre 210 hp TSI engine feel?
“Every bit of [the 207 lb/ft] torque is needed when you put your foot to the floor on this Jetta and have it throw you back into your seat as it blasts off. It’s even more thrilling when you throw it into sport mode,” he writes.
Add to that the DSG paddle shifters (with automatic transmission) and Fender® Premium Audio System, and there’s no question the 2017 Jetta GLI is a winner inside and out. “Nice car” indeed.
