Passat gets a pass from AutoTrader’s Jil McIntosh

Passat gets a pass from AutoTrader’s Jil McIntosh. The all-new 2018 Atlas and 2018 Tiguan models have been generating a lot of buzz lately. But it seems, the 2017 Passat, our mid-size sedan refuses to be eclipsed. And rightfully so. Equipped with an available 3.6L VR6 engine, the Passat stands out as a solid family option. In fact, in her review, Jil states that “it does just about everything right, which is just what a family sedan should do.”

We couldn’t agree more. Jil’s tester was the 3.6L v6 engine which puts out 280 hp and 258 lbs-ft of torque. That’s enough to power your family and all your stuff both around town and beyond. And in true sedan fashion, the 2017 Passat does it with sophistication and unsurpassed comfort.

The quiet, spacious cabin is complemented by timeless design elements, heated front and available heated rear seats and an available Driver Assistance Package. At the same time, the 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox, also known as DSG, on the VR6 model delivers what McIntosh refers to as “blink-of-an-eye switchovers”. It all adds up to a seamless and smooth driving experience that drivers and passengers can enjoy equally.
