Newest VW models at 2017 Geneva Autoshow

The annual Geneva Motor Show has a reputation as one of the most interesting in the world. It is the show where supercars and concept cars share the stage with more commonly sought-after models. For Volkswagen, it’s a chance to preview new models that will be coming to market in the next 6-12 months, some of which will be coming to Canada.

In keeping with tradition, the Volkswagen I.D. Buzz concept was on display alongside the All-New 2018 Tiguan with optional 3rd row seating. Also on display was the 2018 Golf, refreshed and ready for action, as well as the All-New 2018 Arteon.

If you haven’t yet heard about I.D. Buzz, it’s an all-electric self-driving concept that runs on our new MEB platform. The micro-bus style concept draws inspiration from the popular Volkswagen Campervan and has an estimated range of up to 600 kilometres.

While I.D. Buzz may be a few years way, coming soon to Canada is the much-talked about All-New 2018 Tiguan. The newly redesigned SUV is longer and is available with an optional 3rd row seat that provides additional versatility for hauling cargo or passengers.

Also, making an appearance, was the newly refreshed 2018 Golf. Its new look includes a redesigned front and back end, a bigger Infotainment system display, and standard App-Connect. Check out the full MotorMouth video review of the 2018 Golf here.

Perhaps the most talked-about Volkswagen model at the Geneva auto show was the All-New 2018 Arteon. Currently, only to be available in Europe, it’s a 5-passenger, 5-door, high-style lift back GT model sedan. There’s no word yet on whether or not it’s coming to Canada, but if and when it does, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Volkswagen Manager of PR, Thomas Tetzlaff was recently in Geneva to give us a closer look at all four Volkswagen models. Watch now.

Photos for illustration purposes only. Some items, such as wheels, may be unavailable on some trim levels when vehicle is built or may not be available in Canada. Fuel consumption ratings are estimates based on Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) fuel consumption criteria and testing methods for 2018 model year vehicles and are provided for comparison purposes only. Please note that comparisons to seemingly similar vehicles pre-2015 model year will show discrepancies due to the difference in NRCan approved calculation methods for 2014 model year and older vehicles. Please refer to NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide 2018 for estimated fuel consumption figures. Actual fuel consumption will vary based on driving conditions, driver habits and the vehicle’s condition, weight carried and additional equipment. Tires are supplied and warranted by their manufacturer. Most vehicles are sold equipped with four all-season tires. For vehicles sold equipped with summer performance tires, note that appropriate all-season or winter weather tires are required for driving during cold, snowy or icy weather conditions. Please remember that the use of winter tires may be mandatory in your province or territory. Airbags are supplemental restraints only and will not deploy under all accident scenarios. Always use safety belts and seat children only in the rear seats, using restraint systems appropriate for their size and age. The navigation system depends upon signals from the GPS network and is designed to provide you with suggested routes only. Discrepancies may occur between the mapping and the actual location due to changes in street names, construction or other road system changes which are beyond the control of Volkswagen Canada. Please rely on your individual judgment in determining whether or not to follow a suggested navigation route.
